I have nothing against the French; I made the choice to live here in the end. I have nothing against the lovely people or really the language (apart from my lack of capability to get it). I do, however, involve some problems with a couple irregularities of how or the French system that they go about things and would like to go into more detail. Yet, as this really is an article rather than a book that is large, I will not. Instead my intention here will be to point out, in a lighthearted manner of course, some rather mystifying observations that have come to my attention since crossing the English Channel in a southerly direction some years past.

If Paris is a fantastic city through the entire year, at Christmas it becomes a spot that is spectacular. In this joyful season the French capital gives honor to its name - the town of lights. Thousands of lightbulbs adorn the streets, allowing the city a unique appearance. Everything is flooded with light and the city beams awaiting Santaʼs arrival.
