Place Denfert-Rochereau \ Catacombs

Place Denfert-Rochereau, previously known as Place d’Enfer is situated at the intersection of boulevards Raspail, Arago and Saint-Jacques, and avenues René Coty, Général Leclerc, Denfert-Rochereau and rue Froidevaux.

It is named after Pierre Philippe Denfert-Rochereau, French commander during the Siege of Belfort in the Franco-Prussian War. The Place is dominated by The Lion of Belfort statue and is also the location of the Paris Catacombs museum.
