Every summer in Paris two-kilometer beach on the right bank of the Seine River is traditionally opened as the last ten years. The idea of organizing such a recreation site for Parisians and visitors of the city belongs to a mayor Bertrand Delanoe.
This season the beach in the centre of the French capital received its first guests on Friday, July 20th. During a month the banks of the Seine and Paris canals in the north-eastern district of La Villette are transforming into a sandy paradise for vacationers.
Organizers have already delivered 5000 tons of sand and installed chaiselongues and beach umbrellas protecting from the sun. More than fifty employees are ready to take care of safety of holidaymakers.
You will not have a possibility to swim in the Seine, but find a lot of enjoyable activities like to lie on the golden sand in the very heart of Paris, to read a good book or to play a national French game petanque. And in the evening musicians will appear on the quay.
By the way, entrance to the Paris Plage is free. You will pay buying drinks and snacks only. Recreation area is available to visitors from 8:00 am until the midnight.
The beach will be opened until the 19th of August. It is planned that during this time it will be visited by about four million people.
