You may ask a reasonable question: what is a white leaf in place of the title image? It had been the State flag of the Kingdom of France for 16 years in the 19th century.
From 1814 to 1830 (the Bourbon Restoration), a clean white quadrangle had been used as the official French flag.
Generally, white color of the flag is not something strange for France. But in early times it was decorated with heraldic lilies or other symbols, and the white flag was used only within the period we’ve mentioned above.
