Eiffel Tower Illuminations: New Style!

The Eiffel Tower changed its appearance: lighting colors of the Tower were changed for a week of South Africa in France.

Again Iron Lady will “disguise” itself several times this summer:

  • June 15 and 16 on South African Youth Day
  • July 15 – 21 in honor of the International Day of Nelson Mandela

When to see the Eiffel Tower Illuminations?

Every night the Eiffel Tower attracts a lot of tourists and Paris citizens by its wonderful light. Illumination was unveiled on the 31st of December in 1985, nearly a hundred years after the Tower installation. The monument is illuminated with 336 yellow-orange color lamps. In addition, during the first five minutes of each hour the Tower begins to gleam and looks like a huge beacon in the heart of the city.

It is curious that the airports schedules are compiled in such a way that during the gleam time of the Tower planes do not fly over Paris because the light from illuminations is too bright and it blinds pilots. Therefore, to avoid emergency situations, it was decided not to make evening flights at the beginning of each hour. Thus, it is clear that everything in our live is interconnected: landmarks, tourist flies, money, airports schedules… But this is already another story …
