Paris never stops… A rare day in Paris is ordinary and unremarkable. And exactly this is the reason why the city is always full of tourists from all over the world. And if you are in the French capital during first days of March, don’t miss the opportunity to participate (or just to observe :-)) in the annual Paris Carnival.
Today it’s difficult to imagine Paris without this marvellous and bright festival – one of the oldest carnivals in Europe. You would not believe but during the 20th century it was banned and got a new life only 10 years ago.
By tradition, thousands of mummers will meet on the 2nd of March at noon at Gambetta Square, where under the leadership of a herdsman with a cow (such a historic tradition of the carnival) they go through Menilmontant and Belleville areas to Place de la Republique.
Exactly at this square the main festival with the true French music, dances and, of course, rivers of champagne and other traditional drinks will take place. However, it’ll be interesting not only there. Free music concerts, shows of acrobats, theater performances will be organized all over Paris.
Have a merry carnival!
