March 16th. You may wonder about the notability of this day for France and Paris. The answer is really interesting, as far as exactly this day in 1831 the famous Victor Hugo’s novel “Notre-Dame de Paris” was published.
This literary work is one of the most widely read in the world for long 184 years. And the author himself belongs to cohort of the greatest writers of all times.
It has no sense to retell the plot of the novel. Practically every adult knows it. We just can say that in spite of its age the book is modern because love is love, and the resistance of good and evil is always urgent.
If you have not still read Notre-Dame de Paris (even if you watched movies and musicals with the same name), don’t be lazy and do it! 🙂
